INTERNET SALES (2005-2009)
Chicago Harley- Davidson, 888-338-6868
This dealership has an Internet presence and sales promotion that generates hundreds of orders from all over the world every week. There are thousands of different parts and accessories that we have to keep track of and make sure they get to the right customers. Our department of seven processes, receives, ships, bills, takes care of returns and provides customer service for all the Internet orders. My job has covered all these areas with a strong emphasis on the customer service end.
In April of 2006 we moved locations and at the same time changed our system of how the orders were taken care of. Previously each order was handled from start to finish by one person. In our new system we have one group that processes, bills and provides primary customer service. There is a second group that then receives, maintains and ships the orders. My role then focused for a year on organizing and overseeing the shipping end. After that project I switched back to the first group and spent most of my time on handling customer calls from all over the world.
EBAY SALES as mrb1014 & The Minds i (2003-2006)
Until just recently I had an eBay business selling used records as kind of a hobby and to raise some extra money. Starting and running an eBay business gave me opportunity to bring together and refine a number of skills. I constructed a database to track inventory, sales and shipping records. Using this information I then offered a weekly update newsletter to increase repeat customers and sales. Recognizing the time and expense of running auctions that last only a week I opened an eBay store which gave me the opportunity to lower my costs and extended my selling time. This year I decided to end my business to devote my free time to my new interest Internet broadcasting.
DISTRIBUTION COORDINATOR (2001-2004)
Wednesday Journal, Oak Park, IL. 708-524-8300
I coordinated the delivery of 6 weekly, 1 monthly and several annual publications including the award-winning Wednesday Journal and Chicago Parent. The total monthly circulation was approximately 200,000. Our primary methods of delivery were through retail stores, by mail, and youth carriers. I coordinated the pickup & delivery schedules of over twenty five independent contract drivers. In addition I collected, kept track, and deposited the weekly retail/news box sales. I also hired and managed over one hundred youth carriers that deliver thousands of papers every week.
Sales Manager (1996 - 2002)
Bigelow Builders, Palatine, IL. 847-705-6400
I was Responsible for direct distribution of sales and marketing material for this large Chicago-area new home builder. I managed crew of up to 5 distributors. Identified target areas for distribution and implemented campaigns to support specific company sales goals.
The project I managed was a direct marketing campaign aimed at first time home buyers. We had a rent to own program and went to apartment complexes at night putting brochures under the windshield wipers. It was very successful accounting for, in some years, almost 30 per cent of all closed sales. Our crews worked four to five nights a week distributing brochures .Our target was middle & upper income apartment renters in the six county suburban Chicago land area.
I gathered as much information as I could about each apartment community we visited and created a comprehensive database and map. In addition I gathered all the apartment addresses including unit number so we could do direct mailings. And I did this all pretty much without supervision and worked out of my house.
