Our government for most of the past thirty years has been taken over by extreme right wing elements who basically rule by decree, fear and intimidation. They break the law and ignore the courts while the Democratic opposition hides from its responsibility thus abdicating its power. The media has become a pawn a spineless lap dog broadcasting sensationalism, fear, propaganda and advertising. The average American is a debt creating, taxpaying sucker for the lies spun by those that have stolen our wealth and sold out our ideals. Welcome to the rotting fruits of the Regan/Bush revolution. Long live the new world order or is it just the latest version of the Holy Roman Empire. The truth lies in between like the middle Ages when we lived under the serfdom of kings and priests. Nowadays the wealthy and powerful operate through their surrogates in the professional political class and their allies in organized religion.
At Mindsi2 we look at the war on terror the war on drugs and some of the other wars that have been fought in our name over the past 100 years. It is a history of covert intervention, the use of terror, the exploitation of drugs and many other disgraces capped off by the surreal eight years of the Bush/Cheney administration. The only thing more amazing than this is how ignorant and uncaring a lot of Americans are about such issues. So we will be doing here is showing how these events and wars are connected and what the impact they've had in shaping today’s events. For example we see how the election of Ronald Reagan the collapse of the Savings and Loans and today’s Wall Street meltdown are all connected. This is not meant to be a collection of conspiracy theories but rather a collection of events and the story they tell. We offer news of today, the history behind it and a look at a better future.
The election of Barack Obama shows a lot of people are ready for a change in direction in us and our country. But in the end he’s not going to do it for us we have to let him know what we want by becoming involved. He has said the he is a blank slate and he’s going to listen to who talks loudest. And for the first two years he has been listening, like all of Washington does to the moneyed interests that control everything. And why shouldn’t he there are no huge angry mobs in the street demanding change. And because no one cares enough to take action we get a bailout for the banks, a capitulation to the insurance and financial industries on financial and health care reform and an expanded self defeating war in Afghanistan.
There is one single change we could make that would answer a lot of challenges we face. If we really fight a war on terrorism here is the best way to do it is by making our country as energy independent as possible by making the Untied States the world leader in renewable energy systems. By doing this we tackle three central problems that we face. First the problem of national security which is severely compromised by our main energy resources being on the other side of the world in unfriendly countries. Such a goal would go a long way to providing the kinds of jobs we need to grow our economy and improve more peoples standard of living. And finally such a plan would help meet a lot of the environmental challenges we face. Whichever country that emerges as the leader in this area will rule the world as renewable technologies are the only answer to an energy crisis won't go away. We will always have a crisis if we continue to depend on whets scarce and in the ground or take advantage at what's free and all around us.
